The data signal from Encoder 2 is persistently at a low level, suggesting a problem with the encoder's wiring or a defect within the encoder unit itself. This will result in lost or incorrect position feedback, impacting precise drive control.
Click steps to track your progress.
Power down the drive, disconnect Encoder 2 cable from terminal X2, and measure resistance between DATA+ and 0V.
Verify continuity of the Encoder 2 data lines (DATA+ and DATA-) and their respective return paths from encoder connector to drive terminal X2 using a multimeter.
Measure the supply voltage for Encoder 2 at the encoder's power input terminals (e.g., +10V or +24V to 0V).
Using an oscilloscope, monitor the data line signal (DATA+ and DATA- differential) at terminal X2 while slowly rotating the motor shaft.
Exchange Encoder 2 with a known-good encoder of the same type and test system operation.
