A07017

Spindle Supplementary Temperature Alarm

Siemens · SINAMICS S120/S150 Reference List

What does A07017 mean?

This alarm is initiated when the actual spindle temperature (r4105) exceeds the alarm threshold set in p4102[0] for the spindle's supplementary temperature evaluation. The alarm will clear once the temperature falls below this threshold value, factoring in a fixed 2 K hysteresis.

Common Causes

  • Spindle operating continuously at or above its rated speed/torque, leading to excessive heat generation in the motor windings or bearings.
  • Inadequate cooling for the spindle motor (e.g., blocked air ducts, malfunctioning cooling fan, low coolant flow in a liquid-cooled spindle).
  • Alarm threshold p4102[0] set too close to the spindle's normal operating temperature, causing frequent nuisance alarms.
  • Mechanical issues within the spindle (e.g., worn bearings, misalignment, excessive tool pressure) generating additional friction and heat.
  • Environmental factors such as high ambient temperature in the machine enclosure or workshop, reducing the cooling efficiency.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Monitor the actual spindle temperature r4105 via the drive's diagnostics and compare it against the spindle motor's specifications.

  2. 2

    2. Review the configured alarm threshold p4102[0] and adjust it if necessary, ensuring it allows for normal operational variance.

  3. 3

    3. Inspect the spindle motor's cooling system for obstructions, proper fan operation, or adequate coolant levels and flow (for liquid-cooled systems).

  4. 4

    4. Perform an acoustic and vibration analysis on the spindle to detect potential bearing wear or mechanical imbalance.

  5. 5

    5. Reduce the spindle's load or speed settings (e.g., adjust machining parameters) temporarily to observe if the temperature drops below the alarm threshold.
