SV0494

Safety Speed Limit Exceeded

Fanuc · Alpha i Series Servo Amplifier

What does SV0494 mean?

This alarm is generated when an axis exceeds its configured safety speed limit, as monitored by the Dual Check Safety function. This occurs if the Monitoring Result signal (RSVx) for that axis is "0" and the Safety Check request signal (*VLDVx) is also "0". This condition indicates a potential overspeed situation.

Common Causes

  • The actual machine speed has exceeded the predefined safety limit.
  • The system's safety function has detected an overspeed condition.
  • Parameter P101.1 (Safety Speed Limit) is too high or has been overridden.
  • A mechanical failure is causing uncontrolled acceleration.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the current axis speed is within the limits set by safety speed parameters No.13821 to No.13824 (for position control) and No.13826 to No.13829 (for feed control).

  2. 2

Check the state of the Monitoring Result signal (RSVx) for the corresponding axis; it should not be '0' under normal operation.

  3. 3

Check the state of the Safety Check request signal (*VLDVx) for the corresponding axis; it should not be '0' under normal operation.

  4. 4

If an abnormal condition is detected and the axis stops within the time set by parameter No.13825, attempt system recovery by performing a reset operation without powering off.

  5. 5

After modifying safety speed parameters No.13821 to No.13824 or No.13826 to No.13829, power off and then power on the system for the settings to take effect.
