Battery Does Not Switch On (CAN)
Fronius · Perfect Charging
What does 56 mean?
The charger is attempting to establish communication or initiate charging with the battery, but the battery's main power system or BMS does not switch on or become active. This prevents any charging or data exchange between the two devices.
Common Causes
- The battery's main contactor, power switch, or circuit breaker is not engaged or is faulty.
- Insufficient residual voltage in the battery to power its internal BMS, preventing it from starting up.
- A faulty battery BMS or an internal power supply issue within the battery pack.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Manually check if the battery's main power switch or contactor is in the 'ON' or 'engaged' position.
- 2
Measure the battery's open circuit voltage directly at its terminals to ensure it has sufficient charge to power its internal BMS.
- 3
Refer to the battery's specific manual for procedures to activate or troubleshoot its power-on sequence or BMS startup.
