BATT (Failure)
Battery Failure
Kone · Electric Traction Elevators
What does BATT (Failure) mean?
The backup battery for the phone board has failed, indicated by the BATT LED being ON (Red). This critical fault signifies that the battery needs replacement or its fuse has blown, compromising the system's ability to operate during main power outages.
Common Causes
- The backup battery has reached its end of service life and can no longer hold an adequate charge.
- The battery fuse on the phone board is open, preventing current flow to or from the battery.
- Internal failure within the battery pack, such as a shorted cell, has occurred.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Check the battery fuse located on the phone board; verify its continuity with a multimeter and replace if blown.
- 2
Measure the voltage of the backup battery at its terminals; if significantly below nominal voltage or if it fails a load test, replace the battery.
- 3
Inspect the battery charging circuit on the phone board by measuring charging current/voltage at the battery terminals when main power is present.
